January 3rd, 2009- Happy New Year! - Belcher Homes received certification on New Year’s Eve that working with Eco-Recycling, Inc. on our latest De-construction project in Kirkwood, 233.8 Tons of materials were diverted from the normal waste stream that would otherwise have gone to area landfills. This amounted to 80% of the entire home. This does not account for all of the interior doors, cabinetry and other items that were removed prior to “aggressive methods” (see picture below). The de-constructed home will be replaced with a new “green” home.

This brings the total documented amount of materials that Belcher Homes has diverted to 393.7 tons in 2008! (All at no increase to Client’s project budgets! )

This does not count materials that were salvaged prior to “aggressive methods” or our office recycling efforts.

November 13th, 2008 - Belcher Homes has partnered with ECO Recycling. to help remove and reuse recycled materials from our projects. We recently removed a substantial amount of debris from a tear down project. We save 159.90 tonnes from being sent to a landfill!

Matt Belcher to speak at two presentations at NAHB's National Green Buidling Conference in Raliegh NC May 16-18 Matt will participate on an educational panel to discuss D.O.E.'s Building America Program and its "Builder's Challenge."
He will also moderate a discussion about Green Lot Design and Development using the National Green Building Standard

May 14th, 2010 - New Kirkwood Home acheives HERS Score of 39!
Our newly constructed home in Kirkwood acheived a Home Energy Rating of 39 which signifies it is 61% above code requirements for Energy Efficient Construction!

August 10th, 2009 - Matt Belcher has been nominated by the National Association for Homebuilders (NAHB) for the Hanley Award! Hanley Wood Business Media and EcoHome magazine, in partnership with The Hanley Foundation, created The Hanley Award for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Housing to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary, lasting, and far-reaching contributions to the advancement of sustainable housing in the United States. The award winner will receive $50,000, the largest award ever established for advancing sustainable housing. The Award is to be presented at GREENBUILD in Phoenix, AZ - November 12th & 13th, 2009.
